Jill Rowland resides in Shepherdstown West Virginia. She is a graduate of Marshall University, Western Kentucky University and The University of Louisville. Jill is a self-taught mosaic artist who specializes in functional mosaic art for the home and office. "I gain inspiration from nature and the healing process of the soul".
The Healing Heart
"The Healing Heart is the best example of this process". "After a walk in the country side, I knew this piece had to be done. It depicts the healing process of a broken heart. As the heart first encounters grief, the person perceives life through pain and darkness, yet light and healing is close. As the heart heals there are times of darkness; light and healing are beginning to be felt. During the healing process, parts of the heart containing the most pain begin to fill with light and hope. The healed heart is much bigger, lighter, and stronger. The healed heart is full of light and hope, which replaced hurt and darkness." Within a month of completing this piece, Jill's father began the dying process from a series of strokes. "The Healing Heart helped prepare me for my Dad's death."
